• Apartment Groups Urge Caution on Estate Tax Repeal Say It Will Do More Harm Than Good Because of Capital Gains Tax Change Included. The National Multi Housing Council and National Apartment Association are urging the U.S. Senate to reconsider legislation that would permanently eliminate the estate tax, saying that because of the way the full repeal bill handles capital gains, most taxpayers fare better under the existing law as it will exist in 2009 than under the proposed permanent repeal.

• Apartment Groups Commend House Action on Landmark Bankruptcy Bill. The National Multi Housing Council (NMHC) and National Apartment Association (NAA) commend the U.S. House of Representatives for its swift passage of bankruptcy reform legislation today and hail the measure as a win not only for apartment owners, but also for apartment residents.
• Two New Inspirational National TV Spots Celebrate Coldwell Banker Sales Associates' Dedication to Their Customers. Coldwell Banker Real Estate Corporation, which will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2006, today announced the launch of two new 30-second television spots in its "True Stories" ad campaign.
• NAR Testifies on GSE Reform Bills. The National Association of Realtors® told the U.S. Senate Banking Committee today that Realtors® support a strong, independent regulatory structure for Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the Federal Home Loan Banks, but oppose proposals that would weaken their housing mission or undermine the federal role in financing homeownership.

As the debate over the existence of a real estate bubble rages, the most persuasive case in favor continues to be made by those firmly committed to the opposite point of view. Such was the case with several recent articles that should give even the most ardent real estate bulls cause for concern.
• NAR Backs Real Estate Provisions in Bankruptcy Reform Bill. The National Association of Realtors applauds the U.S. House of Representatives today for passing four real estate provisions as part of the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005, S. 256.

• Nine Out of 10 Voters Support Small Business Health Plans, NAR Testifies. National Association of Realtors® President Al Mansell told the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship today that almost nine out of 10 voters favor the concept of small business health plans.
• NAR Applauds Senate Introduction of Homeownership Tax Credit Bill. The National Association of Realtors® praised U.S. Sens. Rick Santorum (R-Penn.), John Kerry (D-Mass.) and four other senators of both parties for introducing this week the Community Development Homeownership Tax Credit Act, S. 859, which would help as many as 50,000 families a year achieve the American dream of homeownership.
